  • The workshop identified the need for redefining inclusivity in conservation practices.

  • Highlighted existing challenges related to diversity, equity, and inclusion within the conservation sector.

  • Moderated by Neyi Jamoh, Nandini Velho, Manisha Kumari, and Salil Subedi, with guest speakers Rituparna Neog and Dr. Shamim Modi.Yamini Srikanth and Priya Tamma were researchers who helped in curriculum development.

Reflections

  • Empowered participants with a new perspective on diversity and inclusion in conservation.

  • Provided a platform for grassroots practitioners to collaborate and share experiences.

  • Exceeded participation targets, with attendees from various states actively engaging in the workshop and requests for more workshops in more states of the same kind.

  • Qualitatively, the workshop fostered a mindset shift among participants regarding DEI in conservation.

  • Quantitatively, increased awareness and understanding of DEI issues within the conservation community.
